A problem, a predicament, a choice between two fabulous things.

"There's no wrong answer."

"There's no wrong choice."

That is what it means to have King's Choice, and Oppo, on Saturday I have it.

My wonderful girlfriend has given me one of those exotic car driving experiences, and I need to pick my car.

It's a short experience - roughly around five to ten minutes of actual seat time - in either a Ferrari F430, or a Lamborghini Gallardo.

Kinja'd!!!

Option A

Kinja'd!!!

Option B

I get roughly five minutes of autocross time in one of these two beauties, and I can only pick one. This is the best, tough decision I've ever had.

Ferrari Pros:

1. Dat Prancing Horse looking at me when I grip the wheel.

Kinja'd!!!

Figure 1

2. I think it's the best-looking Ferrari of the last 10 years.

Lamborghini Pros:

1. More badass-looking interior

Kinja'd!!!

Figure 1

2. V10 Engine. I mean really - when am I going to drive a V10 again?

3. My first car obsession at 10 years old was the Lamborghini Diablo. To actually drive a Lamborghini would be the ultimate childhood wish fulfillment.

So what do you think, Oppo? Should I take the V8 Ferrari, or the V10 Lamborghini?

Dont go for interior. Go for the experience.

Fair. But which is better, then?? VAG V10, or Italian V8?

My wife bought one for me for my birthday. I go on October 26. I think I'll choose the Lambo

Depends on what type of experience you have. Is it with or without assists.

Assists on: Go Lambo. You won't get to take full advantage of the RWD Ferrari. Thus be able to push the Lambo harder.

Assists off: Go Ferrari. You might be able to sneak in a powerslide and blame it on "inexperience".

I assume it's WITH assists - it's the most generic, all-are-welcome experience they offer (ie, the cheapest, bless my gf's heart).

I'd say Lambo, it has more of a special feeling or occasion than the F430 which is subtle (except for the sound). But on the other hand, the F430 might be more of a driver's car which can make the experience fun

The Lamborghini is a sanitized Italian. Go for the high RPM V8 prancing horse. Ferrari builds race cars, not Lamborghini.

How are their comparative exhaust notes? I've heard the V10 online and it's brutal - I love it. The V8 that I heard online almost...whined? It wasn't a sexy noise, but maybe I was hearing something else.

I'm with you on the "special occasion" feel. I get 5 minutes in this thing, once in my life, before going back to DD'ing my four-banger. I want a mothereffing Lamborghini with a mothereffing V10 , damnit.

Due to a ban on certain items for my birthday all I have been getting for the past 3 years are track day experiences. I've done quite a few and from my experience Autocross is assists free as it is a lot slower than actual track driving which has always been assists on.

Lambo. Because V10, and the company exists because of spite. I cannot think of a better reason to start a car company, so therefore it must be the winner.

Also, I'm so over Ferrari. Maybe now that Luca is gone they will learn to loosen up a bit, but personally I don't care about their cars at all. Apart from the F40, nothing they have ever made makes me want one.

Lamborghini on the other hand is what happens when an Italian engineer gets pissed. If the Gallardo was a Balboni Edition there would be no contest it would be the one I chose.

Good thoughts, I had them too. The Volkswagen-sourced V10 makes me sad(-der than if it were an Italian V12). But, it's an autocross course for ultra-beginners with more money than sense who want to play racecar driver (at least that's what it seems), I'm not gonna get much of a chance to even get up to those juicy highest revs, or get loose enough to enjoy the RWD.

Ferrari screams "exclusive" to me.

Lamborghini screams "outrageous" to me.

For this particular experience, I think I want the latter.

I'm sure others will yell at me for hating on Ferrari. That's fine. I never said that they don't make incredible cars. They do. I know that. I don't have to like them though.

But, I very much agree that for this particular experience, the Lambo is going to be way more fun.

The AWD Lambo might nose-out if you push too fast around corners. Also, the V10 was made by Audi for Lamborghini, so it's about as VW-sourced as it is Porsche-sourced :P

If I knew if the course/instructor supervision would allow for any sideways oversteer hoonery, I would pick the RWD all day. But I reckon that it won't, and so I must pick based on other factors.

Audi slower off the line (AWD). Ferrari you can hang the tail out (if they'll let you). Is this on a track?

It's an autocross course, and I think the baseline assumption is that everyone doing this experience cannot drive for shit (like actually drive), and so I doubt there will be much ass-whipping allowed.

F430 because look at that thing. In my opinion one of the best looking Ferraris to date. The Lambro might have more cylinders but Lambo hasn't been much more than areiteration of the Countach (Cunt-stache) for a very long time, at least Ferrari tries.

I'd go Lambo - V10 and I suppose they're more rare than F30s (with no proof whatsoever). Besides, James May has an F430.

I'd say the Lambo is, shit, a Lambo man lol. It's V10 is the same as in the R8 v10 in case that gives you a good starting point. It doesn't rev as high as the Ferrari's but GOD DAMN does it sound nice. I think $kay posted a video of a GTR and a gallardo yesterday, check it out. The V8 man, now THAT is a screamer. It's more exhaust than engine however, whereas the Lambo is more engine AND exhaust. I only understand this now that I have my current car. I say that because the exhaust is nearly mute, and the negine just sounds mechanical, not pretty. I feel like that is where the Lambo stands out, it was designed to sound good and then given an exhaust to achieve eargasms.

I stand my ground when I say Lambo, and damn, now I want to look for one of these events. I live across the Kansas Speedway and they have the Petty driving experience, which my coworker did in an F430 scuderia or something. Hnnnnnghngnhgh

Are you opting for the video too?

For me the Ferrari felt more exotic. If I wanted a V10 I know folks with a E60M5 and E63M6 that I could join for the sound of that.

But sitting in them, the Ferrari felt more special and individual in comparison. I could pick out the similarities between the Gallardo and other VAG products so I was less impressed with that in the end. Plus the threat of oversteer was more prevalent in the F430 vs the Gallardo for obvious reasons and I think it is worth it for that alone.

Decide based on how they drive. The F430 is a bit harder to drive. The Lambo is very "plug and play".

If you want fast lap times take the Lambo because you'll probably feel more comfortable testing the limits of that car. If you want to tame a tail-happy RWD car then go F430.
